Clinic Policies
To ensure a positive and respectful relationship between you and the medical team at Bowness Medical Centre (Bowcare Family Health Hub), we ask that you review the following clinic policies.
Cancellations & No Shows
Our appointments are in high demand. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice. Early cancellations allow another patient to receive care. Failure to attend or provide proper notice of cancellation of scheduled appointments will result in a no-show fee $78.75 for single appointment and $157.50 for double appointment.
Prescription Refills
Your safety is important to us. For this reason, our doctors require an appointment before refilling medications.
We do not automatically refill prescriptions requested by pharmacies. Please plan ahead and call the clinic to book an appointment before your medication runs out.
Receiving Test Results
Our medical office assistants are not medically trained to interpret or discuss test results over the phone.
Depending on your situation, your doctor may:

Ask you to book an in-person appointment
Urgent / Same-Day Appointments
If you require urgent care, we will always do our best to accommodate you the same day based on medical urgency and physician availability.
For medical concerns outside of clinic hours, please call 811. You may be referred to the after hours clinic operated by the Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network.
Appointment Booking
Our front-line staff may ask the reason for your visit when booking your appointment. This helps ensure you are scheduled for the appropriate length of time and allows your physician to prepare for your visit.
Confidentiality
Your privacy matters to us.
We require written consent before releasing medical information to third parties, including law firms, insurance companies, or family members. Protecting your personal health information is a responsibility we take seriously.
